Questions before applying
Clear expectations protect both sides
The program is intentionally generous, but it is not unlimited. These answers define the boundaries before an organization invests time in an application.
Does every eligible nonprofit receive 100 free hours?
No. Up to 100 hours is the maximum pro bono contribution available to selected projects, not an automatic allocation. Some approved projects may receive fewer hours, preferential pricing instead, or a combination of both.
What counts toward the pro bono hours?
Approved GenX professional time can include discovery, design, development, automation, configuration, QA, technical implementation, documentation and agreed project management. The exact scope is confirmed before work starts.
What costs are not covered?
Third-party and ongoing expenses such as hosting, domains, cloud infrastructure, advertising spend, API usage, SaaS subscriptions, licences, transaction fees and specialist external services normally remain the organization’s responsibility.
What if the project needs more than 100 hours?
A larger project may be divided into a useful first phase, or eligible organizations may be offered preferential nonprofit pricing for work beyond the approved pro bono contribution. No additional work is assumed without an agreed scope.
Do we need to give GenX a testimonial or public endorsement?
No. A positive review is never a condition of participation. GenX may request permission to document a project as a factual case study, but the organization can decline or require confidentiality.
Can GenX decline an application?
Yes. Acceptance depends on legitimacy, mission alignment, project feasibility, available capacity, legal and ethical considerations, and whether GenX is the right technical partner. Eligibility alone does not guarantee acceptance.
Is the pro bono work a tax-deductible donation?
GenX describes the contribution as professional services provided at no professional fee under the program. We do not make tax or accounting representations about how that support should be treated. Organizations should obtain their own professional advice where required.
